News from the Farm
Well, there’s been A LOT of rain in the last few days that has fallen on the farm (more than 2.5”). It’s put me a few days behind schedule in direct sowing beets, snow turnips, carrot seeds, and might delay transplanting kale and chard , but I am crossing my fingers and toes that this week isn’t as rainy as the forecast originally predicted and that this wild wind helps to dry things out quickly.
Rain is probably the thing on the farm that causes me the most anxiety - I have zero control over it and a heavy soaking, like the one we’ve just experienced, can set me far behind, especially if there are rainy systems that keep coming.
Fortunately more all of the beds that I planned to plant in April have been given their spring dose of compost, so I just need to plant into them as soon as it dries out a little.
In the mean time, I’ve been sowing seeds indoors, potting up plants for the Seedling Sale, and working on building a trailer to carry our veggies to market.

You want to grow heirloom varieties in your garden this year.
But you never got around to starting any seeds.
Or maybe you weren't sure what might grow well in your raised beds or containers.

Their Dare to Repair Cafe is a monthly community event where individuals can bring broken items (lamps, small electronics, vacuums, toys, etc.) and have volunteer “fixers” try to repair the item alongside them for free! This reduces waste by connecting those with a need to those with the know-how. Check out their next Dare of Repair Cafe on May 18 or volunteer at one of their upcoming spring clean up service days.
